Happy New Year, Every Day.

"It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness" (Lamentations 3:22-23).

"Men who ought to be as true in every emergency as the needle to the pole have become inefficient by their efforts to shield themselves from censure and by evading responsibilities for fear of failure. Men of giant intellect are babes in discipline because they are cowardly in regard to taking and bearing the burdens they should. They are neglecting to become efficient. They have too long trusted one man to plan for them and to do the thinking which they are highly capable of doing themselves in the interest of the cause of God. Mental deficiencies meet us at every point" (1MCP 264.2).

I’ve always liked January 1st. Somehow, everything feels new, a fresh start filled with hope and possibilities. For me, it’s also a time to enjoy Haitian Soup Joumou, a tradition rich with history and celebration, a symbol of freedom, resilience, and gratitude, perfect for welcoming a new year.

There’s an excitement that comes with setting goals and dreaming big. But as time passes, fear often starts to creep in. For some, it’s the fear of failure. Others worry about what people might think, whether they’ll have enough resources, or if they’ll seem weak for stepping away from certain things. And then there are those who simply doubt their ability to follow through.

Today marks the beginning of a new year, a time when promises are made with excitement and anticipation, free from fear. Yet, as the days go by and the newness fades, so do the promises. But the truth is new beginnings aren’t tied to January 1st alone. Every single day is a new beginning, a gift from God. Each morning we wake up is another chance to start fresh, to plan with purpose, and to trust God’s guidance.

So, while we thank God for blessing us with another year, let’s not overlook the blessings that come with each new day. Treat every sunrise as an opportunity to move forward, fearlessly and faithfully, knowing God is walking with you.

Happy New Day!
